In 1963, Bill lived with in a basement suite on 66 Street and 112

was looking for a change. His father in law, Roy Kirkpatrick the local
barber, suggested that if Bill attend Barber school for six months
he would give him a job. Open to new options, Bill attended the Moler
Barber School at the site of the current Shaw Convention Centre in
order to gain his certification.
When Bill was six weeks short of graduation, his father in law
Roy Kirkpatrick, died suddenly of a heart attack at the youthful
age of fourty-six. Martin Mallick, the owner of the barber school
suggested Bill graduate early and his father-in-law's partner Delmore
Schoneck, took Bill in as a new partner. Bill's mother-in-law sold
him her husband's share of the business for $1500.00. Included in
this price was a chair, a handful of clippers and a few combs. Bill
